Patella Cubiti — Developmental or Traumatic?

Abstract
The radiological and operative findings of a case of patella cubiti are described. Films were available during the stage of ossification of the secondary epiphyses for the tip of the olecranon process which also showed a supernumerary centre in the region of triceps tendon. The patella cubiti was formed by a fusion of all of these centres to leave a corresponding defect at the tip of the olecranon. This confirms a developmental rather than a traumatic origin for this rare accessory bone.
