Abstract
In this paper details will be presented of fiber optic pressure sensors that utilize the deflection of a thin diaphragm as the sensing mechanism. The magnitude of the deflection is monitored optically by either: (a) Measurement of the change in intensity distribution of light reflected from the diaphragm due to the changing shape of the reflecting surface, or (b) Interferometric measurement of the optical cavity thickness formed by the fiber end and the reflecting diaphragm surface. Keywords
