Abstract
The optimization technique of linear programming is used to determine the design variables of radius, depth, and recirculation for biological filters under varying conditions of biological filters, under varying conditions of biochemical oxygen demand loadings and removals. Curves have been plotted showing the relationship between these variables for obtaining minimum construction and operating costs. Keywords
