Abstract
Heart blood samples from 23 spp. of marine fishes collected by crews of the Marine Studios Research Laboratory at Marineland, Fla. and made available to the author, were studied for the presence of parasites. Twenty-one spp. were negative, H. bigemina was found in two of 46 specimens of the whiting or Gulf kingfish (Menti-cirrhus littoralis). This is the first report of its occurrence in the U. S. H. achiri was encountered in 3 of 35 hog chokers (Achirus fasciatus). and is differentiated by the presence of a schizont stage which is narrower than, and outside the range of measurements given for, other previously described spp. Keywords
