Abstract
The Arizona [USA], Atomic Energy Commission and Arizona State University implemented a statewide radiologic environmental monitoring system to evaluate existing and future radioactivity levels in water. After 3 yr, approximately 650 samples were assayed for gross .alpha. and gross .beta. activity. Wherever high gross .alpha. results appear, a separate Ra assay is performed. The statewide average for gross activity is 4.9 pCi/l; gross .beta. activity is 6.4 pCi/l; Ra is 0.2 pCi/l. No trends or abnormally high radioactivity levels were observed. Values compare favorably with published results for adjacent states and other areas of the world. This publication has 0 references indexed in Scilit:
