Abstract
The paper presents a broad approach to the selection and behavior aspects of materials for modern high-temperature, high-pressure, steam power-plant piping. The author summarizes the steels currently used and analyzes the possibilities of superstrength alloys for high-temperature steam piping. He also presents a progress report of a program for selecting materials for the Eddystone Unit of the Philadelphia Electric Company (1200 F, 5600 psi design conditions).
