Propagation Through Tissue Cultures

Abstract
One major hotrticulture application of tissue cultures appears to be in the area of clonal propagation. Commercial feasibility has been demonstrated with diverse orchids, and the current interest is to extend the utilization to other crops. This issue's cover1 illustrates a successful extension of the tissue culture procesdure to the propagation of gerbera daisy. The upper photograph shows highly varied plants obtained from seedling, and the lower one shows uniform plants that were obtained asexually through tissue cultures (see p.175-180).
