Abstract
Molecular dynamics calculations have been carried out on the singlet distribution function (sdf) in hard-disk and hard-sphere solids. The dependence of the distribution function upon particle number and density and the deviations of this function from spherical symmetry are examined. The possible connection between the sdf and the entropy and the behavior of the sdf near the melting point are discussed. The surprisingly close resemblance between the extreme anharmonic hard particles solids and harmonic oscillator solids is emphasized. Calculations of the angular dependence of the pair distribution function at pair contact for hard-disk and hard-sphere solids are also presented. Keywords
