Olpidium brassicae and Polymyxa graminis in Roots of Creeping Bent in Golf Putting Greens

Abstract
These fungi were found to be common parasites of bent grass (Agrostis palustris) in golf putting greens in Illinois. In all cases they were confined to cells of the cortex, epidermis, and apical meristem. Infection of the apical meristem killed the root; no evidence was obtained, however, of extensive damage to the greens.
