Effect of Dihydrocholesterol and Soy Bean Sterols on Elevated Tissue Cholesterol

Abstract
Mice with elevated liver cholesterol were fed a diet containing dihydrocholesterol, which had been shown to prevent dietary production of high liver cholesterol levels. This diet did not increase the rate of liver cholesterol mobilization when these animals were maintained on a cholesterol free diet. Rabbits with elevated blood cholesterol levels were treated with dietary soy bean sterols. The rate of fall of plasma cholesterol was not increased above that observed in a control group.
