Abstract
The principles of operation and the performance of a passive sampler for gases and vapours are described. The operation of the sampler depends on the diffusion of molecular species due to a concentration gradient and is simple, cheap and easy to produce. It is ideally suited for both occupational hygiene monitoring and for pollution studies. It is light in weight and similar in construction to the familiar radiation badge making it unobtrusive and convenient to wear over long periods. Keywords
