Abstract
A new design for a tube sump drain-irrigation device is described. The important features of the drain are as follows: Materials needed to make the device are readily available and the assembly of it is easily accomplished. The problem of clogging of the tube by clots and debris is eliminated. Irrigation of a wound or abscess cavity may be carried out effectively. The drain functions effectively because of the physical properties of the synthetic nylon net which maintains an intake air passage between the suction tube and the outer sheath. Experience with 31 patients has been satisfactory.
