Abstract
With the rapid proliferation of new technical methods for clinical laboratory analyses it has become urgent to organize a system for comparing the accuracy and precision of such new with accepted methods. Such a system, prepared in consultation with W. J. Youden of the National Bureau of Standards is presented here. A detailed Scheme making use of basic statistical concepts is presented in both a long form, involving reproducibility, recovery and comparison tests, and a short-cut form utilizing 40 comparisons with a reference method. A complete example is included. The Scheme is applicable to most quantitative tests of blood and body secretions. Keywords
