Enteric Duplications

Abstract
The occurrence of 39 enteric duplications in 37 children is documented. Lesions were found from tongue to sigmoid colon and one child had a cystic duct lesion. Observation of enteric duplications in close proximity to areas of intestinal "atresia" in four infants, closely associated with ileal stenosis in another child, and associated with congenital short small bowel in two cases, prompts a hypothesis that intrauterine vascular occlusion may cause one or more of the following lesions in the newborn infant: intestinal "atresia," short small bowel, intestinal stenosis, and enteric duplication.
