Abstract
The article presents research pertaining to the relationship between an employee's prior absenteeism in one job and subsequent absenteeism on a new position within the same organization. The subjects in the study were technicians who worked for a medium-sized electronics firm. Employee absenteeism was measured through absence frequency, total days absent, and co-worker ratings. The results of the study support the hypothesis that past absenteeism is a better predictor of subsequent absenteeism than work attitudes.
