Lifetimes of Excited States inFe56

Abstract
The mean lifetimes of excited states up to 4-MeV excitation energy in Fe56 have been measured by the Doppler-shift-attenuation method. The excited states were populated by inelastic proton scattering at incident proton energies of 7.8-8.3 MeV. Fe56 recoil energies and directions were defined by measuring γ rays in coincidence with protons backscattered into an annular detector. Reduced matrix elements are extracted for deexcitations of known multipolarity.
