Abstract
A brief review of various non-linear programmed temperature techniques is followed by a discussion of the well-known computational difficulties associated with linear PTGC. It is observed that from the computational standpoint some non-linear temperature policies might offer considerable advantages which, in turn, facilitate the interpretation of experimental data. One such technique, which might be called linear reciprocal PTGC, is discussed in some detail. It is shown that for this temperature policy the characteristic equation describing PTGC can be analytically solved, even if dead space is not neglected. Consequently, closed form explicit expressions are obtained for the retention temperature and retention time. Several additional equations are given, and finally some experimental considerations are discussed briefly. This publication has 0 references indexed in Scilit:
