Abstract
Sera from 7 patients with mucocutaneous candidiasis without vitiligo were examined. Of the 7 sera 3 contained the anti-pigment-cell factor. These anti-pigment-cell factors, which are most probably antibodies, apparently are not cytotoxic for pigment cells and, thus, not the cause of vitiligo. The association of vitiligo and anti-pigment-cell factors with the syndrome of mucocutaneous candidiasis implicates the immune system as a causal factor of vitiligo. This publication has 4 references indexed in Scilit:
