Concentric Pregrooved Disk Fabricated by a Beam Scanning Method

Abstract
A new method for fabricating a concentric pregrooved disk has been developed. In this method, a recording laser beam is scanned by a galvano mirror to trace a concentric circle while the disk moves continuously. Because a pregroove is recorded within two disk revolutions, the recording time is less than half that of the conventional concentric pregroove fabrication method. This method achieves a precise track pitch with less than 0.04 micron deviation.
