Measurement on Radiographs

Abstract
The manner of performing measurements on radiographs can effect the correlation between such measurements. The marking of reference points on the film introduced a systematic error which increased the correlation coefficient. Measurements to be used in correlation analyses should therefore be made directly on the film without marking reference points or lines. Such a method is described. The use of indirect measurements obtained by the addition or subtraction of other measurements can, under certain conditions, cause an increase, and under other conditions a decrease, in the correlation coefficient. Measurements used in correlation analyses should therefore, if possible, be measured directly.
