Abstract
Specimens of Nummulites variolarius (Lmk) and N. laevigatus collected from the Lutetian of the Paris basin (France) and the basins of Brussels (Belgium) and Hampshire (England) permit the correlation of the basal Lutetian beds of the three areas. Fisher bed VIII (Isle of Wight) is correlated with Zone II of the Lutetian of the Paris basin and with the Bruxellian of Jodoigne. Fisher beds VII and VI are correlated with Zone I of the Paris basin Lutetian and with the base of the Bruxellian of Forest and the Flandrian mountains.
