Abstract
The gauge Higgs-field system is studied both in the mean-field approximation and with a Monte Carlo simulation. We compare our results to those obtained by other authors and we comment on the relevance of these results to the problem of the finite-temperature deconfinement in pure gauge theory. Keywords
