A Serological Study of Epizootic Hemorrhagic Disease of Deer

Abstract
A serological study of epizootic hemorrhagic disease (EHD) of white-tailed deer (Odocoileus virginianus) was conducted for 5 distinct geographical areas of North America, using serum neutralization tests to determine the immune response of herds. Few or no reactors were found among deer from Michigan, Iowa, and Wisconsin. A moderate number was found among deer from Nebraska, and a large number of reactors was found in Texas deer. The relationship of the serological results to the history of EHD in each area and the epizo-otiology of the disease are discussed.
