Abstract
A high-frequency noise voltage in a faulty transmission line generated by arcing fault is described. Many artificial arcing fault tests were conducted to clarify the features of this noise voltage, and field investigations were conducted to record the noise voltage generated by actual lightning faults. The noise voltage varies according to the value of fault current, types of fault, and time interval after the occurrence of the fault. A theoretical analysis of the method for calculating this impulse noise voltage is also presented. Keywords
