Vibration isolation for laser light scattering from liquid surfaces

Abstract
Light scattering studies of thermally excited capillary waves at fluid interfaces are peculiarly susceptible to disturbance by external vibration even with a vibration-isolated optical table. The simple expedient of freely suspending the sample cell above the stable is shown to substantially reduce the sensitivity of the system to such perturbation.
