Abstract
Building upon Vern Bullough's historical study of the feminist foremothers of sexology, my presidential plenary, originally presented at the November 1995 meeting of The Society for the Scientific Study of Sexuality, examines contemporary feminist research. Here I provide an inclusive definition of feminist sexology, give a brief overview of late 20th century feminist sexual scholars’ contributions and insights, and cite my undergraduates’ expectations for feminist science in the 21st century. Ending in the democratic spirit of my plenary, which involved the audience in an animated discussion, I conclude by asking you, the reader, to draw conclusions about the current status and likely future of feminist sexology.
