Abstract
The compensating polarisation-mode dispersion of long fibres using principal states of polarisation is limited in bandwidth when these states vary with frequency. A compensator, containing high birefringent fibres and polarisation controllers is described, which is adapted to these variations and promises an enlarged bandwidth. Keywords
