Abstract
A group of 129 hospital patients were categorized according to whether they possessed masticating efficiency, which was represented by the presence or absence of posterior teeth. It was determined by examining the records of their hospital stays that masticating efficiency, as defined, did not significantly affect the occurrence of gastric distress. Keywords
