Abstract
Ten extrasphincteric fistulas were treated by the 2-stage seton procedure. The seton was left in situ for 3 mo.; follow-up varied from 6 mo.-2.5 yr. There were no recurrences. Six patients experienced slight soiling and 1 patient became incontinent. Provided that only muscle tissue is enclosed by the seton, the procedure gives good results; a diverting colostomy is not necessary. This publication has 4 references indexed in Scilit:
