Abstract
High-resolution selective field ionisation (SFI) spectra of laser-excited Na(ns, nd) atoms with 28<or=n<or=36 reveal structure that is strongly dependent upon the slew rate of the ionising field. Two mechanisms, which may lead to this structure, are identified and discussed.Keywords
