The Effects of Pregnancy on Idiopathic Scoliosis

Abstract
Eight women with idiopathic scoliosis associated with pregnancy were reviewed for possible scoliosis progression. Of those 8 cases, 3 (37.5%) showed definite progression of greater magnitude than expected with progression in nonpregnant scoliotic patients. Apparently, curves > 25.degree. will progress as a result of pregnancy. The more severe an unfused scoliotic curve is prior to pregnancy, the more it will progress.
