Abstract
Continuing care involves addressing the physical, emotional, socio-environmental and spiritual needs of terminally ill patients and providing adequate symptom relief (Ventafridda, 1989). This is undertaken through the development of scientific knowledge and evidence-based practice, and a strong commitment to improving the care of these patients. Keywords
