Abstract
The synthesis of fluorinated ferroelectric liquid crystals possessing enhanced smectic behavior over their non-fluorinated analogues are described. The physical properties of these novel fluorinated materials are reported and the effect of fluorination on these physical properties are discussed. Keywords
