Abstract
To the Editor.— The use of buffered glutaraldehyde solution for hyperhidrosis was reported by Juhlin.1 Since then Suringa,2 at the University of Miami, advocated its use in onychomycosis. I should like to submit this preliminary letter to affirm that buffered 10% glutaraldehyde solution is a most promising treatment for the common wart, verruca vulgaris. Since September 1970 I have treated over 30 patients with several hundred warts, including plantar and periungual warts, using this modality. The technique is to apply the 10% glutaraldehyde solution buffered, as detailed by Juhlin, to the warts twice daily. Since this solution is a fixative, the outer layers of the wart become hardened in several days and also the skin around the wart becomes tan or brown.
