Abstract
This article examines the differences between wholistic nursing and holistic nursing and proposes that the latter conceptualization is more effective for contemporary nursing care. First, a brief historical overview and critique of the two concepts is given. The nursing theory, Modeling and Role-Modeling, is presented as an example of a theoretical perspective that encompasses the holistic orientation. Case examples of how this theory has been used in clinical practice are offered. Keywords
