Symbiotic Growth of Pleuropneumonia-iike Organisms with Bacterial Colonies

Abstract
14 strains of pleuropneumonia-like organisms of human origin and one strain of rat origin were observed to grow on solid medium without ascitic fluid or serum when grown in symbiosis with bacteria. All 15 strains grew on Bacto-beef heart infusion agar in symbiosis with Proteus vulgaris but only 9 of the 14 strains of human origin and the 1 rat strain grew in symbiosis with Micrococcus pyogenes var. albus.
