Abstract
A particularly simple instance of broken symmetry arises in the problem of a hydrogen atom in a uniform magnetic field. In a limited sense, the magnetic Hamiltonian nearly commutes with the unit projection of the Runge-Lenz vector upon the field direction.Keywords
