Abstract
The advantages and certain technical problems in the use of the Harris Microtome Cryostat for quick frozen sections are discussed. In 4 to 8 min., this method results in sections that compare favorably to paraffin preparations. Sheering and separation of the stroma are the only persistent artefacts, and suggestions are made for reducing these. Special stains of excellent quality, for fat, fungi, and acid-fast bacilli, can be made immediately, in order to be of help in more specific diagnoses. A method is described for. quick sectioning of cervical cones from patients with carcinoma in situ. The disadvantages of the method include the initial cost of the apparatus and the slightly increased time of preparation. Keywords
