A shallow‐water system for sampling macrobenthic infauna1

Abstract
Two suction‐corers for use in shallow water estuarine areas penetrated to a depth of 20– 30 cm in substrates ranging from silt to gravel, taking samples of about 30 liters in volume and 0.1 m2 in area. The manually reversing model is limited to a maximum water depth of 3.5 m, but the automatically reversing instrument samples at depths limited only by the length of the hose used to evacuate the chamber.
