Doppler-Broadening Measurements of X-Ray Lines for Determination of the Ion Temperature in Tokamak Plasmas

Abstract
Ion-temperature results are deduced from Doppler-broadening measurements of the Kα (1s2p) resonance line emitted from heliumlike iron impurity ions in the hot central core of PLT (Princeton Large Torus) tokamak discharges. The measurements were performed using a high-resolution Bragg-crystal spectrometer with a multiwire proportional counter.
