Mixed Rare Earth Oxides as Starting Material for the Preparation of Y 2 O 3 : Eu Lamp Phosphor: Characterization and Use

Abstract
Fine structural determinations are utilized to illustrate the advantage of the use of mixed oxides as starting materials rather than mixtures of separated oxides, with respect to the expected performance of yttrium‐europium oxide red phosphor for lamps. X‐ray synchrotron diffraction experiments show how improved homogeneity is achieved, inducing better processability and higher performance through easier access to crystallographically pure materials and the regularity of the repartition of the dopants.
