Abstract
Three groups of children were matched on four variables, and then the members of two of the groups were allowed to work together, whilst the members of the other group worked one child to each machine. Each group was asked to complete a fixed quota of frames of trigonometry (presented in AutoTutor machines) per period for eight weeks, after which the post‐test was administered. There appeared at first to be no significant differences between the groups, but a more detailed examination showed the paired group to have fared significantly worse when answering the more difficult questions than the group who worked on their own. Keywords
