Abstract
Ten adult squid (D. bleekeri) were put into a small (1.37 m2) circular tank in a closed system. Half of the squid survived 43-60 days, and the others longer. Filtering ability was essential to squid maintenance and was satisfactorily supported by zeolite in appropriate amounts. In long-term (over a month) maintenance, skin damage caused by faint by repeated contacts with the tank walls became a major cause of death. Feeding squid was important for squid maintenance, and goldfish (Carassius auratus) were satisfactory as food for long-term maintenance of squid. This publication has 4 references indexed in Scilit:
