Abstract
A case report of a 24 year old white [male] with the stigmata and endocrine findings of "pan-hypopituitarism." Treatment with pregnant-mare-serum gonadotrophin did not result in spermatogenesis although the patient gained in height and weight during such therapy. Subsequent therapy with testosterone by mouth and by pellet implantation resulted in spermatogenesis. The patient''s gonadotrophin titer did not rise during this treatment, and the author concludes that the action of the testosterone was directly on the seminiferous tubules rather than being mediated by gonadotrophins.
