Abstract
The need for mapping weed infestations and monitoring the spread of weeds is discussed. Methods suitable for large scale regional surveys and smaller scale mapping are reviewed with emphasis on pasture, rangeland and grassland. Visual estimates of cover in discrete classes using farms or standard map grids as units are recommended for large-scale surveys. For small-scale mapping to monitor spread, measurement of cover using permanent line transects or photographic recording of permanent rectangular quadrats is recommended. Keywords
