Abstract
A recently harvested millet field near Niamey [Niger] was surveyed for egg-pods of the pest grasshopper O. senegalensis. Oviposition behavior, egg-pods and eggs of the species are described. Pods were not randomly distributed and many were laid on the edge of a slope. The density of the pods was 1.14 pod m2. From 142 pods, 13.4% were attacked by the larvae of Systoechus sp. and 11.3% by other predators. The mean number of eggs in intact pods was 26.4.This publication has 5 references indexed in Scilit:
