Abstract
Three recently published protocols for the in vitro adventitious shoot regeneration of Rubus leaf expiants were compared using ‘Canby’ red raspberry. A consensus approach was designed combining the best features of the various protocols, and tested for three Rubus genotypes. Cultivar differences had a significant effect on the number of expiants regenerating shoots, the number of shoots per regenerating expiant, and on tissue growth rate. The most responsive cultivar for shoot regeneration from in vitro leaf expiants was ‘Canby’ red raspberry. Using the consensus approach developed in this study, 54% of ‘Canby’ leaf expiants regenerated with an average of 4.1 shoots per regenerating explant. Keywords
