Fungicidal Properties of some Constituents of the Heartwood of Tetraclinis articulata (Vahl) Masters.

Abstract
Carvacrol (I), hydrothymoquinone (II) and thymoquinone (III), which were isolated from heartwood, and thymol (IV) were investigated for toxicity against wood destroying fungi, the germination of conidia of common "root rot fungus" and against blue stain fungi and associated yeasts. II was the least active of the 4 compounds investigated. The most active were I and IV with III being only slightly more active than II.
