Abstract
Adipose tissue of 50 human subjects (10-60 yr old) was taken from autopsy cases and analyzed by GLC equipped with an electron capture detector (3H+) for determination of storage levels of BHC, DDT and its metabolites DDE and DDD in human body fat. The data were reported according to age (length of exposure), dietetic habits and area of residence of the subjects. Results showed relatively moderate exposure to DDT and BHC. Levels of residues were slightly higher in nonvegetarian and rural residents. DDT levels in human adipose showed a decreasing trend compared to earlier reports of the highest body burden of pesticides being present in Indians. This publication has 12 references indexed in Scilit:
