A Cecal Enterogenous Cyst Lined by Ciliated Epithelium: Report of a Case

Abstract
The case of an enterogenous cyst of the cecum in a newborn is presented. The cyst was lined by ciliated epithelium. The development of the alimentary tract and the concept of heterotopia is reviewed. The authors conclude that there is no satisfactory developmental explanation for the presence of ciliated epithelium within a cyst at this site.
